Re-Elect Councilman Ken Armwood ![]()
Councilman Ken Armwood is a lifelong resident of Piscataway. A proud graduate of Piscataway High School, Ken went on to obtain his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University. Ken has been active in the Piscataway community from a very young age. He was elected to the Board of Education for the first time at the age of 19. He served on the Board of Education from 1994 until 2000 while simultaneously being actively involved in his volunteer role with the Township Youth Coalition.
Ken's interest in mentoring the youth of Piscataway is far reaching. He is the founder of the World Youth Leadership and Activism Conference. The aim of the conference is to bring youth together, from all different backgrounds, and to provide them with an experience that enables them to interact with one another and to "think globally and act locally". Participants leave with the skills necessary to become activists. Ken also is the founder of the Township Holiday Toy Drive that brings smiles to the faces of many children and their families in the Township. Additionally, Ken is a member of the Middlesex County Task Force on School Violence and is actively working to prevent violence in the school system. Elected to the Piscataway Township Council in 2004, he served as Council Vice-President in 2007 and is currently the Council President. Ken is seeking re-election so that he can continue his efforts to provide programs in the township that help the youth of today become our leaders of tomorrow. Ken knows that it is paramount for our youth to be involved in activities that challenge their knowledge and ability. As councilman he will continue to develop programs that enrich the lives of all the children in Piscataway. Councilman Armwood is employed at the Edison Job Corps Academy. In his role as manager he works to provide the skills that individuals need to be productive employees in today's workforce.
